da 888casino: TalkSPORT presenter Andy Goldstein has said that Jurgen Klopp has shown “disrespect” to the League Cup following Liverpool’s defeat to Aston Villa on Tuesday.
What did he say?
da lvbet: The 46-year-old was speaking after the Reds had been thoroughly dispatched by the Villans 5-0 at Villa Park. Given that they are also participating in the Club World Cup – they won their first match against Monterrey on Wednesday – the club’s academy players were forced to take the field. At 22 years of age, Pedro Chirivella and Isaac Christie-Davies were the oldest of those who were in Neil Critchley’s starting XI.
Goldstein felt that Jurgen Klopp was wrong in terms of his squad selection. He explained: “Klopp hung the kids out to dry.
“Keita, Lallana, Origi, Shaqiri could have played. They could have flown them out to Qatar on Wednesday.
“He has shown a total disrespect to the campaign while he is on a vanity mission halfway around the club.”
Out of order
Klopp was put in the difficult decision of having to choose which was more important between the two competitions, which perhaps shouldn’t have been the case in the first place. However, in the end, he prioritised the inter-continental tournament rather than the domestic one.

In the end, he made the right decision. Whilst this was still a quarter-final, it was a cup that they play in every single year, and one they have already won this decade as well. Meanwhile, they have never triumphed in the Club World Cup, meaning that victory there would make history. At the end of the day, the winners of this trophy can say they are the world champions – officially. The League Cup does not bring the same kind of glamour.

Goldstein insinuated that the 52-year-old should have left the likes of Naby Keita and Divock Origi with the younger players to give them a chance of making it to the next round. How exactly would that be fair? Both contributed to their Champions League win last term – Origi, in particular, played a huge role, scoring twice against Barcelona and then in the final against Tottenham. They have earned the right to fly to the Middle East to write themselves into Liverpool folklore – if they haven’t done so already.
At the end of the day, beating Flamengo in the final would be remembered and cherished for far longer than a cup match in December against a side they will play twice already this term in the Premier League. There is no doubt about it: Klopp made the right decision.
