da dobrowin: According to reports in the Daily Mail, West Ham United are keen to tie teenager Declan Rice down to a new contract worth £25,000-a-week.
What’s the word, then?
da esport bet: Well, the Daily Mail says that the 19-year-old has impressed since breaking into the first-team picture this season, with his current deal due to run out until 2020.
The Daily Mail adds that the youngster, who can play as a midfielder or centre-back and is currently earning around £10,000-a-week, is highly-rated by the east London outfit having come through the ranks.
How has Rice done this season?
He has done well, and quickly become a fans’ favourite because of his performances.
The 19-year-old has made 23 appearances in all competitions for the Irons, and he has started four matches for the club in 2018, including at centre-back in the win against Crystal Palace and defeat against Brighton and Hove Albion at the end of January and start of February.

Are they right to extend his deal?
They certainly are.
West Ham have struggled to bring players through from their youth system and integrate them as first-team regulars in recent years, and Rice looks to potentially be an exception to the rule as a home-grown player.
The 19-year-old is a mature performer on the pitch and he has already got the London Stadium faithful on side because he is a young player, and he looks to have the quality to become a key player both in the short-term and the long-term.
Will he commit his future to the club?
He certainly should do, yes.
The teenager is London-born and will likely be happy to stay in the capital given his tender years, although he may want some guarantees that he is going to get regular minutes in the team from next season onwards if he is to extend his stay at the London Stadium.
