It is looking increasingly likely that Crystal Palace are set to replace Roy Hodgson this summer.
The 73-year-old is out of contract at Selhurst Park come the end of the campaign, with a number of potential replacements already being reported.
One of the names apparently on their list is former Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira, according to The Athletic.
Considering the Frenchman’s managerial CV thus far, appointing him at Selhurst Park could be a mistake from Steve Parish.
The 44-year-old has only been appointed manager of two clubs so far throughout his career, first with New York City FC and then with OGC Nice.
He failed to lift a single trophy in MLS, only managing to finish second in the Eastern Conference during his tenure.
Meanwhile, in his time with Nice, he racked up a 39% win percentage before getting sacked following a five-match losing run in all competitions and only managing to win just six games during the opening months of the 2020/21 campaign.

Whilst that rate is more impressive than Hodgson’s 33% that he has managed to accumulate in all competitions with Palace, Vieira’s lack of managerial experience, particularly in the Premier League, will also count against him.
After all, the last time that Palace turned to a manager lacking in such experience, Frank de Boer, it ended disastrously.
It could be said that it would be unfair to judge Vieira on the failures of past managers but it should certainly work as a warning to Parish as he looks for a potential Hodgson successor.
When also compared to some of the names reportedly on Palace’s shortlist – Sean Dyche and Eddie Howe – Vieira could be perceived as a hugely inexperienced appointment.
The convenience of his arrival would be useful with the Frenchman being out of work, however, the high-risk Parish would be taking by hiring the former Arsenal and Manchester City man should be enough to see him ruled out of the running.
