Per The Northern Echo, the Magpies could consider selling their star defender in the ongoing summer transfer window as he enters the final year of his contract. The England international is yet to agree to put pen to paper on a new deal which means he could leave the club for free if he is not sold this season.

After grooming Tino Livramento last season, the club now see the 21-year-old to be the long-term option in the right-back role. Thus, they would be willing to offload 33-year-old Trippier if they receive the right amount of money.
