Chelsea continued their strong start to the Women's Super League season with a 2-1 win against Arsenal on Saturday – a result that sent them top of the table. Former Blues manager Hayes was at the Emirates to see Sonia Bompastor's side secure a deserved victory. Despite picking up the three points, England international Bright suggested her old boss would probably not have been entirely happy with the manner of the win.

She told : "Yeah, probably sending me some grief actually! We always keep in touch, she's [Hayes] become a great friend over the years and she always will be."
The centre-back added: "We knew it was going to be a tough game. It's two top teams coming up to battle, it's never easy coming here. As a team we know we've got that fight, we're capable of dealing with that pressure and, in the end, still creating a couple of chances. We're disappointed not to put them in the back of the net a few more times but it's a game we expected to be tough."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Hayes led Chelsea to unprecedented success during her remarkable tenure with the club but now Bompastor is at the helm and the former is managing the United States women's national team. Hayes' success has made it easier for her replacement to thrive at the Blues – something she has evidently done so far.
